Welcome to our September eNewsletter! It has a been a little while since we've sent out a message, as we've had some big changes brewing here at Twin Eagles. Before we get into that, a recap:
Our summer camp season wrapped up with an incredible 200 campers over the course of 11 weeks - our biggest summer ever! I love seeing the vision of deep nature connection mentoring grow here in the Inland Northwest. With our summer camp season wrapping up, so did our year. Our ninth year in operation was full of blessings, including running all of our classic deep nature connection mentoring programs, as well as birthing the Twin Eagles Depth Mentoring Apprenticeship and the Twin Eagles Girl's Rite of Passage. We're grateful for all your support!
As we enter into our tenth(!) year here at Twin Eagles, we are positioned for some very major growth. This year we're bringing back the Sandpoint Monthly Youth Program, we're adding more teen overnight weekend programs, we'll be offering winter break camps and spring break camps, and we're adding a number of different adult weekend and daylong workshops. And there is still more to come!
Looking for the Art of Mentoring? This year we'll be offering a shorter, three day version instead, called Earth Based Mentoring. The full six day AoM will return to Twin Eagles in 2015.

Feature Article: Natural Bee Sting Treatment
Natural bee sting treatment is a perhaps the best way to deal with bee stings. Not only is it usually free or inexpensive, but it also is non-toxic compared to many mainstream bee sting remedies.
How amazing that a creature so small can give a sting so big! Most everyone has experienced the intense piercing pain, redness, and swelling so typical of bee stings. What if there was a way to avoid bee stings altogether? Let's take a look...

Monthly Preschool Nature Program
Forest Children
For kids ages 4 - 6 · Spokane, WA
One Sunday per month · October - May
Offered in Spokane, WA, the Forest Children program gently guides young children to a deep relationship with the natural world. Children are encouraged to learn about the fundamental elements of life through 100% direct experience with nature. Activities may include foraging seasonal wild foods, crafting toys from objects found in nature, connecting with the lives of animals through games, creative movement and tracking, developing bonds with trees through learning safely about fire, sparking the imagination with storytelling, and much, much more! Twin Eagles Monthly Youth Programs
For kids ages 5 - 13 · Spokane, WA & Back in Sandpoint, ID!!
One Sunday per month · October - May
We are pleased to be bringing traditional ecological knowledge to the Spokane and Sandpoint communities on a monthly basis! Kids have a rare opportunity to slow down to nature's pace and experience themselves in a community of passionate nature based learners through activities such as fire by friction, local species interrelations, songs, animal tracking, group challenges, wild edible & medicinal plants, natural shelter building, storytelling, sensory awareness and much, much more. Weekly Homeschool Youth Nature Program
Twin Eagles Community School
For kids ages 5 - 13 · Sandpoint, Idaho
One day per week, Fridays 9 am - 3 pm
Autumn, Winter, & Spring Seasonal Blocks (~8 sessions each)
Come join our original weekly program for homeschool youth that explores deep nature connection and the wilderness arts through nature based mentoring. Students truly steep in a timeless experience of the natural world with teachings of the naturalist, the tracker, the wanderer, the herbalist, the ecologist, the survivalist and the scout. Now in its ninth year, Twin Eagles Community School is a tremendous opportunity for youth to experience knowledge of place and nature awareness all in a powerful atmosphere of cultural mentoring. Weekend Teen Wilderness Programs
Twin Eagles Seasonal Teen Rendezvous
For teens ages 13 - 18 · Locations throughout the Inland Northwest
Weekends run Friday evening through Sunday Afternoon

Twin Eagles Seasonal Teen Rendezvous offers awesome experiences to teens throughout the Inland Northwest and beyond to sink deep roots to the earth through wilderness skills while soaring high through full-on group adventures. Teens learn leadership by working together as well as applying their sensitivities through ancient earth based skills and crafts. This is a powerful opportunity for teens to encounter the wild around them. As well, teens have a chance to touch their own inner wildness by giving unique voice to their inner selves amongst a community of peers and mentors.

Winter Break Camps - NEW!!

Get your kids outside this winter with Twin Eagles Winter Break Camps! Winter here in the Inland Northwest is a magical time. The landscape is transformed by a blanket of snow, and there is a stillness upon the land. Rather than holing up, get outside this winter! Like all Twin Eagles Youth Programs, our winter break camps bring out the best in kids by connecting them deeply to the natural world, forging strong community, and developing genuine self-awareness. Our highly trained instructors draw out kids' passions through nature based activities like tracking wild animals, building snow shelters, learning primitive skills & crafts, storytelling & Songs around a warm campfire, and much more! Teen Mentor-In-Training Program
For teens ages 15 - 18 · Sandpoint, ID & Spokane, WA
Twin Eagles Mentor in Training (MIT) program is an incredible opportunity for teens to step forward into becoming authentic nature based mentors. Twin Eagles MITs receive guidance from Twin Eagles' seasoned adult staff to move into a mentoring role with Twin Eagles Youth Program students, thereby experiencing themselves as powerful role models and leaders. It is a rare opportunity to be mentored into their greater potential as they experience the joy of mentoring others into a deep relationship with the earth. Earth Based Mentoring NEW!!
A three day, nature based, annual gathering of renewal

Deep in all of our roots, there are stories of our ancestors living in healthy, regenerative communities — villages where the people were in deep relationship with the land, each other, and themselves. Earth Based Mentoring is a three day, experiential deep nature connection mentoring program designed to help us remember these old ways and learn to apply them to our modern communities.
Familiar with the Art of Mentoring? This program is like a "mini" Art of Mentoring. The full length Art of Mentoring will return to Twin Eagles in 2015.
We bring together a team of experienced leaders and facilitators from Twin Eagles Wilderness School and beyond to staff this program that will co-create a joyful, engaged learning community. You will walk away with tools and embodied practices of regenerative community design, depth mentoring techniques, deep nature connection, and an amplified passion for learning. Wild Medicinal Plants are literally bursting with nutritious and healing powers that still beat anything you can find in a store. The research has been done. Hard science and native wisdom agree that some of the very best medicines are literally waiting at our feet for us to connect back with them.
In our herbal remedies workshop you will learn how to use a variety of local wild plants for medicine. The workshop covers plant id, harvesting, creating salves/tinctures/compresses/infusions, using fresh wild plants for first aid situations, creating an herbal first aid kit, and info on the most common medicinal plants in North America.
